New Public Art Coming to Beltline Park

Coinciding with the opening of a new park on 12th Ave and 9th St SW is a new public art piece entitled Chinook Arc by design firm Creative Machines. The interactive sculpture will measure 14' x 28', and LED lighting will emit a soft eternal glow that responds to touch sensors, so visitors can engage with the piece.

The form of the sculpture draws inspiration from two sources: a historic streetcar loop that formely encircled the neighborhoods of Beltline, and the Chinook arch phenomenon that periodically forms in the western sky.

Quality public art pieces like this one are great because they activate our public spaces and contribute to the urban vibrancy of the community. Look forward to this compelling piece of art coming to the Beltline in October 2013!
