Two Wheel View

TWO WHEEL VIEW (TWV) is a charitable organization that provides leadership, environmental and cultural education programs to young people through their participation in bicycle education and expedition programs. TWV programs focus on connecting with local communities and the natural environment, learning about other cultures and encouraging healthy and active lifestyles - from the seat of a bike.

MISSION

TWO WHEEL VIEW provides life changing experiences for young people. TWO WHEEL VIEW is a mission driven organization that creates opportunities for young people to learn and practice lessons in leadership, health and wellness, self esteem, achievement, and environmental stewardship through their participation in bicycle education programs and expeditions.

The mission of Two Wheel View is to educate young people on the environment and local culture of areas in N. America and abroad through their participation in educational bicycle programs and expeditions.

TWO WHEEL VIEW believes that all youth should have the opportunity to expand their physical and cultural boundaries. There are many youth, due to financial or social limitations, that are never exposed to what may provide the greatest source of learning – real life experiences that bring home valuable insights and logical steps for positive change.

By exposing young people to new challenges, other cultures and diverse environments through an intense hands-on experience, TWO WHEEL VIEW believes we can open young people's eyes to new ways of thinking and positively impact them to create positive change in their own lives and communities for the future.

TWO WHEEL VIEW offers a range of programs from local after-school programs to international bicycle expeditions.  All programs are free for youth and are supported through individual donations, grants, and volunteer support.

GOALS

* Work predominantly with youth populations ages 14 years and older.
* Teach about environmental stewardship, cultural understanding and social responsibility through hands-on activities and lessons.
* Identify cultural, social, and environmental resources that create a new perspective and appreciation.
* Reshape the way participants interact with their home communities and the world.

* Create student-directed initiatives to mobilize young people to use their power and experience.
* Encourage youth and adult mentoring opportunities where students and past participants continue to volunteer and work with other young people.
* Provide educational activities generally unavailable to our target population.
* Use concrete, positive, action-oriented activities to foster an appreciation of the natural world.
* Practice and teach the principles of environmental stewardship.
* Promote an active and responsible lifestyle.
* Provide supportive, adult role models for youth.

* Offer opportunities for environmental and community action, leadership and personal growth.

Rick and Tanya McFerrin founded Two Wheel View in 2000 after a two-year bicycle expedition around the world. Their experiences and perspectives on the world, as seen from the seat of a bike, created the basis for Two Wheel View.

TWV is a nonprofit charity organization serving young people throughout the USA and Canada and is operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes.

TWV provides the opportunity for youth to learn about the environmental and community resources at home and abroad and to experience the rich diversity of our global community. The bicycle becomes a potent tool for delivering our future leaders to locations where social, cultural, and environmental differences may become fascinating contrasts, and at the same time allowing youth to participate on a personal level with peers and communities perhaps surprisingly similar to their own back home.

TWV believes that all youth should have the opportunity to expand their physical and cultural boundaries. There are many youth, due to financial or social limitations, that are never exposed to what may provide the greatest source of learning - real life experiences that bring home valuable insights and logical steps for positive change.
