Ephraim Peter Ellison,  born in St. Louis, Missouri and raised in Utah, came to Alberta in 1902 and became prominent in the milling and sugar industries. As his southern Alberta business interests expanded, he erected the present building in Calgary in 1929 and another warehouse in Vancouver. Ellison Milling &Elevator Co. ceased operation in Calgary in 1975, but continues to workout of Lethbridge. The building is representative of the warehouses erected during Calgary's brief economic resurgence in the late 1920s. (1982)
